Code of Conduct Our Commitment to the Community We are dedicated to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, nationality, age, or religion. Whether you are attending your first meetup, participating in a workshop, presenting as a speaker, or exhibiting as a vendor, we expect all participants to share in building a community rooted in mutual respect and a shared passion for analog writing and stationery. 1. Expected Behavior Be Considerate and Respectful: Treat fellow attendees, venue staff, speakers, and exhibitors with courtesy and respect at all times. Embrace Beginners: Our community thrives on shared knowledge. We encourage patience and welcoming attitudes toward newcomers asking questions or exploring the hobby for the first time. Respect Boundaries: Always ask for explicit permission before photographing an attendee, a vendor’s table, or personal collections. 2. Event & Handling Etiquette (“Table Rules”) Because our events often feature delicate, vintage, or high-value instruments and liquids, all attendees are expected to observe the following handling guidelines: Always Ask First: Never pick up, uncap, or test a pen or item from a vendor table or personal collection without explicit permission. Mind the Nibs & Tools: Do not apply pressure or attempt to flex nibs unless the owner or vendor has explicitly given permission to do so. Food and Drink: Keep all food and open beverages away from vendor displays, personal collections, workshop materials, and communal ink-testing stations to prevent accidental damage or spills. Accidents & Spills: Accidents happen. If an ink or liquid spill occurs, please do not panic or attempt to hide it. Immediately notify an organizer, volunteer, or venue staff member so it can be cleaned up safely and effectively. 3. Unacceptable Behavior We do not tolerate harassment or disrespectful behavior in any form at any of our events. Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to: Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, or derogatory speech or actions. Gatekeeping or elitist behavior intended to make others feel unwelcome in the community. Non-consensual physical contact or unwanted personal attention. Theft, intentional damage to items or display materials, or unauthorized handling of property. Failure to follow venue rules or directives given by event organizers and safety staff. 4. Enforcement Participants asked to stop any unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, event organizers reserve the right to take any action deemed necessary, including immediate expulsion from the event without refund (where applicable) and prohibition from attending future events. 5. Reporting and Assistance If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other safety concerns during an event, please reach out to an organizer or volunteer immediately. During Events: Organizers and volunteers will be clearly identified (e.g., badges or lanyards) or available at the main registration/info desk.
